Ulrike Welsch… Freelance
Photographer.
In 1964 Ulrike came to the USA from her native Germany, determined to build a career in photography.
For the first few years she improved her portfolio while
working in a camera store. In 1966 she landed a job as
a photojournalist with the Boston Herald Traveler. Five years later she moved on to the Boston Globe.
Her images have won many awards: New England Press Photographer of the Year 1974; Pulitzer Prize with the Boston Globe team (1975) on Boston Busing; AP & UPI Awards; Matrix Award - Simmons College.
In 1981 she decided to strike out on her own as a freelance photographer and
has never looked back.
Now, as author of
13 books, Uli is a recognized photographer and author she has a
string of photographic accomplishments that anyone would be
proud of.
